November Reading Calendars will be collected Tuesday, Dec. 1. New calendars for December reading will be replaced in their homework folders.
I am truly impressed with the amount of reading the 3rd graders do outside of school. Many of you read above and beyond the 300-minute goal. That is extraordinary to me!
Titan's Apparel will be available to order until midnight on Tuesday, November 24, 2020.
PLEASE KNOW that the kid's sizes in the sweatpants run about 1-2 sizes too big. I had Hadleigh and Addison try on a youth small and they fit with a little room in the waist. I don't know about youth sweatshirts, but I did order an adult small for my Alivia and it seemed true to size. If you have any other questions contact Sarah Sumption @ sarah.sumption@k12.sd.us.

I want to extend an enormous thank you out to all the families who donated to help our day be a success. We delighted every single grade with a Halloween treat all the way from Kindergarten to Seniors. We are sure to be voted the best class in school, no doubt.
The parade went off without a hitch and if it were a contest, 3rd grade would have had it in the (trick-or-treat) bag! Everyone was very respectful with their costumes and we had so much fun. It is possible that the teachers had just as much fun, if not more, than the students. I hope we can do this again next year.
Have a safe, yet haunting Halloween,
Mrs. Little

2. Costumes must be school-appropriate. (Super scary masks are not recommended and NO WEAPONS)
3. Any costume that becomes an "issue" or distracts students from learning will be required to be removed for the day. We want students to continue to learn, even though it is a special day.

4. Classroom Fall Party
We will enjoy a festive party in our classroom with Halloween games and snacks.

Our Community Walk was a success this year, regardless of our precautions for Covid-19. The students had such a great time and we were lucky enough to snap some very cool pictures! The purpose of our adventure focused on a Language Arts research project and coalligned with our Social Studies Unit on Communities.
Our research project was based on the safety of our local park. The students and I researched various articles, old newspaper clippings, internet searches and of course our field research throughout the week so we were well educated on what makes a park safe. They used this knowledge to choose one concern (each) that they felt needed to change in order to avoid future danger to young children playing at Simmons Park. Our research deemed successful, and each student has written an argumentative (opinion) letter to the Frederick City Council stating their claim for repairs and improvements that they strongly feel need to be made.
It was an exciting adventure! I hope we made memories and learned research skills that will last a lifetime!
